After my presentation in September 2019 at PCF9, I was invited by a colleague to share an update regarding my mobile first proposal at a Research Forum on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. I added 17 slides to the PowerPoint document given that the presentation at PCF9 required a maximum of 8 slides.

I also gave an update regarding two questions I received during the presentation at PCF9, specifically:
Q1: Is it possible to change the colour of the display from white to a darker colour for learners with vision problems (the white screen hurts their eyes)?
Q2: Why not use a Mobile App instead of focus on Mobile First?
Having a growth mindset my response to the first question was "not yet, I'll look into it". I'm happy to inform that I figured out how to tweak the mobile first design to enable seamless switching between dark and light mode (see slide below):

An article by LMS PULSE (2019) mentions some useful tips about Dark Learning? Why You Should Consider Adding A ‘Night Mode’ To Your LMS. Note the tips regarding the 4 basic properties of dark theme:
Contrast versus saturation
Depth
Blackspace
Outlining
In response to the second question, I informed that based on my target group (senior citizens) a mobile first option might be better, however the research will determine the wants and expectations of the group. After showing the comparison of Mobile App versus Mobile first, I asked the audience:
"Based on your experience and what I've shared thus far, which do you think is better App or Mobile First?"
The majority of respondents mentioned that Mobile First is better, a few were undecided, however, no one selected Mobile App. Next, I presented another slide to show that both Mobile App and Native Apps are needed.

I'm looking forward to the next leg of this journey...testing of the mobile-first site :)
